Tobacco moving through a processing line
Our Value Chain

Nine stages between the farm and the container

Working across the value chain gives us greater control over quality, processing and product consistency, and it keeps the finished product connected to the leaf it came from.

The full sequence

Every stage, in order

A summary of the nine stages our tobacco moves through, from the grower to the destination market.
  1. 01

    Sourcing

We source carefully selected tobacco from suitable growers and tobacco suppliers, building relationships that begin well before the leaf reaches our floor.

  2. 02

    Green Leaf

Tobacco enters the production chain at the green leaf stage, where correct handling is essential to preserving the quality carried through every later step.

  3. 03

    Flue-Curing

The leaf undergoes controlled flue-curing, developing the colour, aroma and texture that define Virginia tobacco.

  4. 04

    Processing

Cured tobacco is conditioned and prepared through controlled handling ahead of threshing, protecting leaf integrity throughout.

  5. 05

    Threshing

Leaf is separated from stem to produce clean tobacco lamina, the foundation of every product we supply.

  6. 06

    Grading

Processed tobacco is assessed and graded against quality characteristics and the specifications agreed with each customer.

  7. 07

    Value Addition

Selected tobacco is processed further into cut rag, while fines and other commercially valuable components are recovered rather than lost.

  8. 08

    Packaging

Finished products are packed to specification, marked and prepared for shipment with the documentation each destination requires.

  9. 09

    Export

Products are cleared, containerised and supplied to customers in global markets, supported through to delivery.
